Guide - Playing the Engineer Class
EU Engineer Class

Engineers are the ones taking out vehicles. The default weapon is the MITCHEL AV-18 a rocket system which is moderately effective versus air and ground vehicles. They are also equipped with Turcotte rapid smg instead of a pistol. While the Turcotte is far superior to the pistols in terms of strength, rate of fire and accuracy it is far behind other class's weapons such as the Voss, Baur and Carbine. However they upgraded anti vehicle weapon, the PILUM AVR is quite exceptional at taking out enemy vehicles.

The strength of an engineer comes out in battles where vehicles make a large difference. They are quite ineffective in most infantry based scenarios (storming/defending a titan and city maps). The two most useful (and practical) things for an engineer to carry are the II-19 Motion Mine and the II-14 EMP Mine. When equipped with both any choke point becomes a sure death for all passing vehicles. The key is position the EMP mines in front of the motion mines in either a line or zig-zag pattern about 10 meters in front of the motion mines. The reason for this is that the buggies (Fast Attack Vehicles) can use their turbo (shift key) and blow right by motion mines alone. This is very important for defending narrow choke points that enemies shouldn't get beyond. After they hit an emp mine they roll to a stop and the motion mines obliterate them.

Another strength of the engineer is being a vehicle driver or passenger. They are great for team vehicles since it allows them to easily hop out and repair the vehicle anywhere without requiring a supply drop. If you are playing on a smaller server it even allows them to drive a vehicle around alone and repair it themselves without as much fear of their vehicle getting stolen.

All in all the engineer is a very limited class and NOT recommended as a primary one for anybody starting the game. They will find themselves often frustrated at their lack of ability to kill in a one versus one scenario. However, if you are often commander then being an engineer is quite an asset as you can defend your base versus snipers and repair your own systems. They can also lay down emp and motion mine defense outlined earlier and hide confidently.
