Guide - Ranking Up Quickly (FAST!)

So you want to unlock those weapons? Perhaps win that commander application more? Look no further, here are some tips to help you score points, lots of them, fast.

The quickest way to earn points is to earn badges, pins and ribbons. Squad bonus scores and commander scores also help.

A few quick things to always remember
-Playing Lone Wolf gets NO extra points
-Staying with your squad leader and listening to their orders gets extra points
-Always have either attack or defend commands, move commands do not give any bonus points
-Getting an extra kill for your 5th or 10th as a suicide is always worth it (5 and 10 points respectively from Combat Efficiency/Distinguished Combat Efficiency Pins
-Assault and Support get extra points for revives, heals and ammo giving

If you want maximum points in the least amount of time the easiest way is to start out on a knife and/or pistol server. These servers (while admin'd) provide an equal environment for all players regardless of unlocks (well upgraded pistols have slight advantage). There is also rewards for knife and pistol kills which offer extra points. Add these to knife and pistol badges and we have over 3000 points easily accessible plus pin awards for racking up a couple hundred kills (150 knife/300 pistol).

After knives and pistols this should give you significant amount of unlocks and put you on an equal footing in nearly any server you play on. Now it is time to aim for other badges, if you've been playing one class hopefully you've managed to rack up at least some hours of play time with the class and have achieved silver status, another 500 points. The next easiest gold badge is probably explosive gallantry badge (300 explosive kills – 20 in a round). Join a large server (64 players) with friendly fire disabled and simply lay down Anti-personnel mines (APM) and RDX Demo Packs to achieve this. The RDX Demo Pack is a controlled explosive, so one trick is to run into a group of the enemy, drop it, alternate fire, fire (left click, right click, left click which drops the demo pack changes to detonator, and detonates) taking out up to 3 enemies in the vicinity. RDX Demo Packs can also be thrown over walls, out to a corner and stuck onto vehicles. You can get very creative with these, it takes 1 to kill a player, 1-2 for a buggy, 4-5 for a walker.

At this stage you have a couple trees unlocked and should be able to decide how you want to approach ranking up further. Just keep in mind BFHQ provides a checklist of every ribbon and pin with a progress bar of how you are doing, so periodically checking to see what you are closest to can help greatly in directing your efforts. Also remember you get field upgrades, so unlocking your final weapon in any tree doesn't always need to be done, if you simply join a squad you can unlock the weapon normally after a round at the latest in any decent squad issuing orders.
