The support class has two functions, laying down incredible amounts of cover fire and providing ammo to team members. The default gun is the Bianchi LMG a powerful light machine gun that is considered far more effective than the upgraded version the Ganz HMG. The reason for this is that the Bianchi LMG gets MORE accurate the more you fire (your cross hair size will shrink until reaching minimum or overheating). This makes it very effective at laying down efficient cover fire as well as actually killing any enemies who may be in the line of sight of this deadly weapon.
The first role of a support is to provide supporting fire to their teammates this can be done two ways, the first is simply firing (best while prone to get the most accuracy) and the second option is using the Sentry Turret which scans approximatley a 90 degree field of view for enemies and automatically fires without ever overheating or running out of ammo. This is very effective for large range cover fire as well as covering small alleys and your six if you are trying to guard a position. These turrets make great allies if you set them up anywhere you think or know enemies will be coming or already are. They are very susceptible to enemy fire which is ok since you can restock yourself with another just by holding the ammo hub.
The second unlock that should be mentioned is the IPS Shield 9that big red screen) which blocks enemy fire. This is very effective for covering the blind spots of your turret from being taken out or for protecting you so you can lie right behind your turret. The shield also provides a nice obstacle for anyone trying to reach you ontop of let's say a staircase.
The third unlock is the V5 EMP Grenade. This is crucial versus vehicles (most often walkers) who simply stomp over infantry. Drop an ammo box with this equipped and you can almost indefinitely lock down a vehicle from being able to move. With a decent team and/or commander you should be able to take out the vehicle with demo packs or an orbital strike.
The final upgrade for a support player is the Clark 15B Shotgun which at close range is the most effective firing weapon. This weapon is great for tight city maps and infiltrating titans with those small corridors. This weapon lacks ANY sort of power beyond approximately 15-20 feet which should always be kept in mind. It also has a very slow reload time so be careful and reload any chance you get. Support players never worry about running out of ammo, so always keep a full clip in the chamber.
The second job of a support player is of course keeping your team stocked on ammo. A player without a round any clips left isn't a very useful one. They can also restock grenades and just about any unlock in the game. Keep this in mind as often you can get 1-3 support players together who all drop ammo hubs which allows a constant barrage of grenades because of the fast resupply of 2-3 hubs in proximity to one another. The best places for dropping an ammo hub are exactly the same as in the Assault Guide. Strategic placement of the ammo hub is important for keeping you and your teammates armed. The best time to drop an ammo hub is somewhere you intend to be for a little while such as a flag, behind a corner, guarding a position, etc. If you are on the move a manual ammo giving (hold the ammo hub and move with it armed as your weapon) is a better choice than dropping a hub. If you drop a hub you will not be able to manually heal for a short period of time. You can double up ammo giving if you have a hub down for a while you can use the hub and manually give ammo for double the effective restocking speed.
